Each container of Dessert Mix makes an average of 35 - 7 oz. servings of pudding - compared to Jello 4 oz. servings. Rice Pudding makes 25 servings and Tapioca makes 50 servings!
Use skim milk instead of regular.
Use sugar substitute instead of sugar. (You may have to add sugar substitute after pudding has boiled & thickened) Add 4 packets of Sweet & Low instead of sugar.
Use pudding to make frozen suckers for kids. One recipe makes 14 pudding pops for about 90 cents.
Make in the microwave to save time. Stir every 2 minutes.
Use lower heat when using instant milk.
Make frosting with Dessert Mixes.
Use in Ice Cream makers. Its less complicated & lower in fat. Use milk instead of cream and its just as creamy.
Mix two Dessert Mixes together for a different taste, try Chocolate-Coconut or Banana-Tapioca.
Remember to shake Dessert Mixes before using.
Banana Dessert Mix
Add ½ teaspoon to an ice cream shake.
For a delicious tropical tasting treat, make a graham cracker crust with 2 teaspoons of Watkins Orange Peel and Bake. Fill with Banana Cream Pie filling and top with Rum flavored whipped topping.
Add ½ cup Banana Dessert Mix to a white cake.
Make Banana Dessert recipe according to package directions. Add 1 dry white cake mix. Bake. Frost with flavored whipped topping and sprinkle on nuts, cherries, etc.
Butterscotch Dessert Mix
Make with brown sugar instead of white.
Add 1 teaspoon Rum Flavoring to pudding.
Add 1 teaspoon Caramel Flavoring and 1 teaspoon Butter Flavoring to pudding.
Chocolate Dessert Mix
Use in chocolate cake instead of cocoa for a lighter taste.
Mix with Butterscotch Dessert Mix for a wonderful taste.
Serve hot over ice cream. Better than hot fudge.
Add ¼ cup Chocolate Dessert Mix to Tapioca Dessert for a different taste.
Add ¼ cup to ice cream before freezing.
Add a teaspoon of Almond or Cinnamon Extract to Chocolate Dessert Mix.
Add to Chocolate Chip Cookies to help keep them soft.
Use in brownie recipes. Use ½ the amount of Dessert Mix as cocoa.
Make Chocolate Sugar Cookies by adding ½ cup of Chocolate Dessert Mix to regular sugar cookie recipe.
Mix ½ Chocolate Dessert & ½ Vanilla Dessert for a lighter milk-chocolate dessert.
Coconut Dessert Mix
Add to cookie dough.
Use ½ cup Coconut Dessert Mix to replace ¾ cup coconut.
Make Dessert with fruit juice. Cool. Add fruit
Add ¼ cup Coconut Dessert to banana bread dough.
Add 2 tablespoons to sugar cookie recipe.
Add 2 rounded teaspoons to Rice Krispie treats.
Use cooled Coconut pudding as topping for strawberry short cake.
Layer fresh strawberries on pound cake & top with Coconut pudding.
Lemon Dessert Mix
Make with milk instead of water.
Add to bread pudding.
Add to homemade ice cream
Add ¼ cup of sour cream to Lemon pie recipe.
Layer with whipped topping and cookie crumbs.
Rice Dessert Mix
Add Rum Flavoring to Ride Pudding.
Soak raisins in a mixture of ½ cup water and ½ teaspoon Rum Flavoring. Add to Rice Pudding.
Tapioca Dessert Mix
Drain a can of fruit. Make Tapioca according to package directions using fruit juice and water as a substitute for milk. Stir in a small package orange gelatin. Stir in fruit and let set.
Make Tapioca according to package directions. Cool. Add 1 cup whipped topping, 1 can drained fruit cocktail, 1 cup miniature marshmallows.
Layer cherry pie filling on Tapioca just before serving.
Use Tapioca as thickening in fruit pies. (2 tablespoons replaces plain tapioca)
Use 2 tablespoons to thicken stew - it will not lump.
Mix some dry Tapioca Dessert Mix with cottage cheese to make Kolaches.
Add 1 tablespoon Watkins Punch Concentrate to a recipe of Tapioca.
Top with fresh fruit.
Use in rhubarb desserts.
Vanilla Dessert Mix
Use 1 tablespoon in pumpkin bread.
Make Vanilla dessert mix with fruit juice instead of milk. Use as glaze over fruits. You can cut down the sugar in the recipe if using heavy syrup canned fruits.
Add Peppermint Extract to Vanilla Dessert. Layer with Chocolate Dessert in parfait glass.
Add 2 - 3 tablespoons Vanilla Dessert Mix to a regular pie crust recipe and it will not become soggy when refrigerated. Different flavors work with different pies. Try Coconut with Apple Pie.
Use Vanilla Dessert Mix in a stir fry instead of cornstarch.
Add ½ cup before freezing ice cream.
