
Easy Cheese Straws
1 Cup Sifted All-Purpose Flour (sift before measuring)
1/2 teas. Salt
1/4 teas. Watkins
Dry Mustard
1/4 teas. Watkins
Cayenne Pepper
1/3 Cup Butter or Margarine
1 Cup Grated Sharp Cheddar cheese
1 1/2 Tbsp. Ice Water
1 teas. Celery Seed
Into medium bowl, sift flour with salt, mustard and
cayenne. With pastry blender, cut in butter and half of cheese until mixture resembles
coarse crumbs. Add ice water; stir lightly to blend. Shape dough into a ball. Preheat oven
to 350 F.
On lightly floured surface, roll out pastry 1/8 inch
thick. Sprinkle with remaining cheese. Fold dough in half; roll out 1/8 inch thick again.
With pastry wheel or knife, cut into strips 5 inches long and about 1/2 inch wide.
Sprinkle with celery seed. Place on ungreased cookie sheets. Twist, if desired. Bake about
12 minutes or until pale-brown. serve warm.
