Overcoming Objections

As you try to sponsor other Associates into Watkins you can expect objections from certain people. Many times their objections are totally unfounded on fears, misconceptions or the unknown. There are many objections that you can overcome if you have a 'good comeback'. Here are some objections or concerns people may have and how you an answer them:

- I don't know if I can do this.

You never will unless you try.

- My husband/wife isn't supportive of me trying this.

Show him/her the money and he'll/she'll come around. You can also say that sometimes one person may start something before their spouse joins them. Also point out that there are many people that build a successful business all on their own efforts too and you don't have to depend on anyone else in order to become successful.

- I don't know enough people.

The average person has hundreds of acquaintances. Most people know a lot more people then they think. You can even have the person jot down names and you give them ideas (i.e. - beautician, neighbors, friends, family, child's teacher, people from church, people from clubs, people you or your spouse work with, etc.) The amount of names on their list will surprise them!

- I have to see so much income coming each week.

Figure out how much sales you need or what you would have to do to produce the income you need. The higher your sales and more new Associates you bring into Watkins, the more income you will receive! You can often make far more income working for yourself than you can for someone else.

- Prices are too expensive - everyone buys at the dollar store in our town.

Not so - all the malls and stores are crowded, not just the dollar store. Also show that person how they can actually save money with Watkins! Show that the products are concentrated, last longer and do more. Say if people are really interested in saving money or making their money go farther, they will be interested in Watkins! Mention the monthy items on sale and also the 25% or more Wholesale Discount!

- We live in a depressed area.

Depressed all depends upon who you're talking too. Point out how many businesses are thriving in their area. Also tell them that their Watkins Business doesn't have to depend on one single area as Watkins direct ships anywhere in the U.S. & Canada. They can build their Watkins business practically anywhere!

- Is this like Amway?

No. Amway is secretive and they often don't tell you the name of their company. Watkins is proud of their 131 year heritage since 1868. Any company that has been around 131 years must be doing something right.

You can also ask them, "What exactly do you mean" so you know what direction to steer the conversation. Them may actually be looking for a company like Amway. You never know where your conversation is going to go. Also, do not speak negatively about other Network Marketing Companies or Home Businesses. Negativism about any company usually is not taken well even if it is true.

- There's too many people selling

Ask them how many people in their town is ACTIVELY selling or when was the last time someone actually handed them a catalog? Emphasize that there may be a few Watkins Associates in their area, but they may be buying wholesale or just sharing with their family. Tell them to look at their local supermarket and the amount of business it does in one single day. Point out how many people there are within a 50 mile radius of them. You can also say, "If someone would have been actively selling or working the business" you wouldn't have asked me about it to begin with.

- Is this one of those pyramid things?

Definitely not. Pyramids are illegal in the US. Watkins has been in business 131 years and is one of the most reputable, highly respected companies today! Watkins is regulated under the same Government guidelines as every other business in the U.S. (or Canada).

- I can't sell anything.

Did you ever tell someone about a good restaurant, a good movie you've seen, a product you like? You're selling! Did you ever apply for a job? You're selling yourself to that potential employer. Everyone sells to some degree. Selling is just talking about something you're familiar with or like.

- I don't have enough time to put into this.

Who said you ever had to have a certain amount of time to put into this? After all, you are your own boss! There are no mandatory time requirements or meetings. You choose when it's convenient for your schedule. Also a little extra income from Watkins might allow you to cut back on your work schedule or second job (depends on situation). You can also earn extra income just by talking to people you'll be seeing anyway throughout your daily activities.

- I can't do parties.

You don't have to. Everything is optional with Watkins. You only do what you're comfortable doing. Some people catalog share, some sponsor, some do fundraisers - it's all up to you.

- Do you really make money at this?

Of course you do! We know many people who do this full time. Many make a nice part-time or supplementary income and who can't use a little extra money these days? Of course, your paycheck from Watkins depends on your effort. Point out that there is no limit to the income they can earn and many in Watkins are earning six figure incomes!
