Vanilla Butternut Pound Cake
3 Cups Sugar
½ Cup Shortening
2 Sticks Margarine
¼ teas. Salt
5 Large Eggs
3 Cups Flour
1 Small Condensed Milk (2/3 cup)or enough to make 1 cup liquid
½ Tbsp. Watkins
Butternut Extract
Optional Ingredients are 1 10 oz. jar maraschino cherries without juice and 1 cup of
walnuts).
Cream sugar, shortening and salt. Add eggs. Mix well. Add
flour alternately with liquid. Add flavoring. If cherries and nuts are used, add them last
and fold in by hand. Bake in greased and floured tube or bundt pan for 1 hour and 45
minutes at 325 degrees. Start in cold oven. Do not open oven while baking. Let cool for a
few minutes before removing from pan.
