Wylers soups have over 3 times the sodium. Even the low salt version has twice as much sodium as Watkins. Mrs. Grass soups cost more & have twice the sodium content.
If soups are too salty, add a little sugar.
Combine several soup mixes for better gravies.
Mix Onion Soup & Mushroom Soup for rice dishes.

Camping Hints
A cup of hot beef, chicken, tomato or onion soup will hit the spot on cool nights. Just add boiling water.
Make your own prepackaged soups. Combine Watkins Soup Bases, dehydrated vegetables, quick-cooking legumes (such as lentils or split peas) and desired seasonings in a zip lock plastic bag. Add contents to boiling water to make delicious soup in about 30 minutes.
Make prepackaged side dishes. Combine rice or noodles with Watkins Soup Base and desired seasonings in a zip lock plastic bag. Add to boiling water.
Beef Soup Base
Try sprinkling on popcorn instead of salt.
Cook deer meat until almost done. Sprinkle with Beef Soup Base & finish cooking.
Add to chili.
Add to vegetables when steaming them.
Add 1 teaspoon to hamburger patty & microwave until done.
Mix cauliflower, green beans and onions. Season with 1 tablespoon Watkins Beef Soup Base. When liquid thickens add nuts.
Add when cooking pasta or rice.
Add to flour when flouring meats.
Cover deer steaks with Beef Soup before freezing. The deer steaks will taste very close to beef.

Use Cheese Soup Base instead of Velveeta in recipes.
To make creamy vegetable soup, add 1 tablespoon each Watkins Chicken Soup Base and Cream Soup Base to Cheese Soup recipe.
Use Cheese sauce for dipping chicken.
To make a zesty hot-dog sauce Make ½ recipe of Cheese Sauce & add 1 tablespoon Watkins Jalapeno Mustard and 1 teaspoon Watkins Chili Powder.
Chicken Soup Base
Watkins Chicken Soup Base makes the equivalent of 25 cans of chicken broth.
Add 1 teaspoon to rice while cooking instead of salt.
Add to stir fry.
Add to stuffing or dressings.
Use in scrambled eggs.
Try over pork chops.
Add to dried peas.
Sip a cup of broth when you have the flu or if morning sickness is a problem.
Grate Zucchini, add Chicken Soup Base, crackers & eggs for a delicious casserole.
Add to tuna casserole.

Use with Ramen Noodles in place of the flavor packet that comes with them. Much tastier & far less salt.

To make Clam Chowder use the Potato Soup recipe, but add a can of small clams. Add tiny shrimp or imitation crab meat for variety.
To make Onion Cream Soup combine 1 teaspoon Watkins Onion Soup Base and ½ teaspoon Watkins Cream Soup Base to 1 cup of hot water.
Add to scalloped potatoes.
Mix with Cheese Soup Base for a creamy cheese sauce.
Use when making creamed dried beef.
Makes a good white gravy.
Use potato water & Cream Soup Base instead of milk when whipping potatoes.
Use to make creamed cabbage.
Brown hamburger. Add Cream Soup Base, milk & water. Delicious gravy!
Add to beef stew.
Mushroom Soup Base
Canned Mushroom Soup Substitute
1 cup Watkins Mushroom Soup Base, 2 cups milk, 3 cups water. Combine in saucepan & cook. Use in any recipe calling for canned condensed mushroom soup. 1 1/3 cup Watkins Mushroom soup is equivalent to 1 can of condensed soup. Recipe makes 4 batches. Freeze the extra soup in 1 1/3 cup containers for another use. You can use all milk instead of water to make this Mushroom Soup Substitute.
One can make the equivalent of 18 cans of Cream of Mushroom Soup at the grocery store & is much more versatile.
Makes a great mushroom sauce - add fresh mushrooms & serve over meatloaf!
Watkins Mushroom Soup Base has less sodium than Campbells, tastes better & saves you money.
Rub Mushroom Soup on steaks & pork chops before grilling.
Wonderful in scalloped potatoes.
Mix with Cheese Soup for sauce.
Mix with Beef or Onion Soup Base for a hearty mushroom gravy.
Onion Soup Base
1 rounded tablespoon Watkins Onion Soup Base equals 1 package of Lipton Soup Mix. Watkins is lower in sodium. One can of Onion Soup Base is equal to 8.5 boxes of Lipton
Tasty in scalloped potatoes.
Butter French bread and sprinkle with Onion Soup Base. Broil.
Make French Onion soup by mixing according to package directions, topping with croutons & shredded cheese. Bake briefly in the oven.
Add 2 tablespoons to 1 cup softened butter as a bread spread.
Add 2 tablespoons to ½ cup melted butter & toss with popcorn.
Mix 2 tablespoons Onion Soup Base & 2 Tablespoons Chicken Soup Base into the flour for coating chicken.
Add one cup of water and 1 tablespoon Onion Soup Base to sliced potatoes before baking.
Add to hamburgers.
Sprinkle on roasts.
Use in gravies.
Add into soups.
Add a little Onion Soup Base & Watkins Barbecue Sauce to pork & beans.
Mix Onion Soup Base & Beef Soup Base together to make gravy.
Add to meatloaf.
Sprinkle oil and Watkins Onion Soup Base on diced potatoes before baking.
Use on pork roast.
Add to chili.
Make Onion Gravy & serve over green beans.
Use Onion Soup in chicken gravy.
Add Onion Soup to chicken pieces in a crock pot. Save the juice to use with stuffing.
